Distress Ink Watercoloured Retirement Card

So after pondering for 12 months my Dad has finally decided that the time has come to retire. I think this was hurried by my own battle with health last year, which made him question alot of things. But of course retiring amid a global pandemic means that normal send offs are out of the question. So I thought a card may be nice to at least mark the occasion.

I am entering this card into the Daring Cardmakers Challenge which this week is Big Celebration themed Full details are here

My dad is a very family orientated man so I decided to use this stamp as I could chose the sentiments that are in the signpost. For this I chose Home, Love, Happiness and Adventure and stamped the sentiment 'Life is about the journey not the destination' which I felt was meaningful at retirement.

As always a video tutorial is available on my YouTube Channel Mrs H's Crafty Corner

Instructions

On a piece of white card measuring 5 3/4 Inch by 4 Inch I stamped the signpost, tiny footprints and the sentiment. I chose the words happiness, love, home and adventure to go on the signpost.

Using a watercolour brush I first applied distress ink in brushed corduroy to the entire signpost. I used Gathered Twig to shade areas and soothed Brundle sage under the signpost to give the appearance of grass

Using a piece of paper from the Dovecraft Lost and Found Paper Pad I cut a panel which measured 4 1/2 Inch by 6 1/4 Inch. The watercoloured image was adhered using double sided tape

The olive A4 card was cut to 10 1/4 Inch by 6 3/4 Inch and scored at 5 1/8th Inch

The image was then adhered to the front using double sided tape

Inside the card Happy Retirnent was heat embossed using black embossing powder
