So the cat is out of the bag, my first design team post is with
Polkadoodles Digi Choosday Blog where I am a guest designer for a few months. My first creation is live today on their wk 26 anything goes challenge. Pop over there is a great discount code for a limited time only.
The DTs specification was 4th July using red white and blue but not a card.
Nervous does not come close and then a sheer panic blinded me as the voice inside my head taunted me with 'you only make cards' I think I can safely say I have silenced it now. I can add gift bag to my resume!
The bag design uses the beautiful Little Miss Sugarpops Flying The Flag Digi Stamp
I begun by creating a template, I messed about for ages getting the size right and so have scanned the template in and saved it as pdf. You are more than welcome to use it if you find it helpful. All I ask is that you please do not share it, just direct people here to it. It takes 2 pieces of A4 so cut the template twice Gift Bag Template.
There is a video on my YouTube channel Mrs H's Crafty Corner
Supplies Used
Little Miss Sugarpops Flying the flag digi stamp which can be found here
Blue Red and White Spotty Digi Paper from Ruth the Supermum Collection which can be found here
Spectrum Noir Tri Blend Markers and Illustrator Markers
3 Sheets A4 White Card
1 sheet Matt Red Card
1 Sheet Blue Glitter Card
White Organza Ribbon
Large Rectangle Nesting Dies
Flower Dies
Coloured Sticky Gems in Red White and Blue
Instructions
To begin print the Dotty paper from the Ruth Supermum Collection onto shiny white card stock. You will require 2 sheets. I chose shiny as it makes the colour much more vibrant. I have a very old printer (my new one is with a courier somewhere...) so it really does need as much help as it can get.
Using the gift bag template I created (which is attached at the beginning of this post) I cut out the two pieces.
The template was laid over the top of the cut out pieces and it was scored folded and burnished
At the top at 2 inches in from each end a hole was punched for the ribbon.
A stitched edge rectangle die 6 7/8 Inched by 4 3/4 inches was used on the red card. While a 6 5/8 Inches by 4 1/2 Inches die was used on the blue glitter card and the digi stamp was cut out using the stitched rectangle measuring 6 3/8 by 4 1/4 the three were stuck together
Then attached to the front of the gift bag
White ribbon was fed through these holes and knotted. To form handles and the two pieces were glued together using the hot glue gun
3 flowers were made and attached to the bottom right corner
While a red, white and blue gem were attached to the top left on the red paper
And a number of white gems were stuck onto the blue panel on the flag to signify the stars on the American flag.
