Papercraft Society September Unboxing

It is that time of the month!!! *spoiler alert* Please do not read any further if you do not want to see what is in this months box

I am very excited by this one as it has been created by Daisy Mae Designs and not only that but it is festive too.

,

The stamps and dies are just gorgeous, what I would design as English village objects. The snow covered post box, the bird bath

The patterned papers are very soft colours and there are even die cut sentiments

Complete with fake snow, wooden love heart buttons, hessian ribbon and twine it has a bit of a shabby chic feel

Oh and water colour pencils which will be a new for me

I can not wait to get crafting with this.box of goodies

Badger

I make no secret of my Love affair with Daisy Mae Designs. This is one of the older collections that I managed to get my hands on second hand on eBay. I have paired it with dies from my August Papercraft Society box and used a technique to cut the image that I saw used in the new Creative Stamping Magazine Issue 86. I haven't actually got around to reading the magazine yet. I just saw the technique while I was waiting for the kettle to boil. So have only read that snippet.

There is a video on my YouTube Channel Mrs H's Crafty Corner. I have used a different editing app which means I can speed up my videos and add a voice over. I think it works better but please let me know your thoughts. It means the videoing is easier, as I can break off when I need to and don't have to start again if one of the kids barges in half way through. But it does mean the editing takes a little longer. So has its pros and cons!

To begin I stamped and coloured the image

The image was then cut using 2 of the torn oval dies which were positioned as you see in the picture below

The intricate wreath was cut from Kraft card, while the wreath background was cut from patterned polkadot paper from the works. A sprig of corn die was also used on the Kraft card

These are arranged as below onto the green card base. 

The hessian ribbon was taped onto the bottom of the card and a bow made from twine and tiny buttons were added. As well as a few clear drops

The sentiment is the one from the badger stamp set and was heat embossed in Wow Earthtone Mint

I make no secret of the fact that I adore Daisy Mae Designs Stamps, especially the Faraway Forest Collection and the earlier stamps. I love the animal ones. These are mostly out of stock everywhere now but I did manage to get my hands on a couple of used ones off ebay.

Cardmaking Tutorial 

I begun by stamping the image in Rustic brown and colouring with my spectrum Noir markers. I tried to apply all that I learnt in my last marker class and added folds to the icing bag 

Using the Time for Tea Die I cut a border in the teal green card

A stitched rectangle die was used on the red card

These were assembled onto a cream card base

The sugar and spice sentiment was heat embossed in blue Glitz onto Kraft card and the luggage tag die used to cut it's out. 

It was finished with twine and added to the left corner

Nuvo drops were added to the remaining 3 corners

Inside a piece of red card was cut using the same stitched rectangle nesting die and the sentiment 'you are the icing on my cupcake' was heat embossed in the mint

Easel Card

The minute I saw this stamp set from Daisy Mae Designs I knew I wanted to created a special card with it. My husband parents own a caravan and it is his mums birthday coming up soon so I knew I wanted to use it for that. 

I wanted it to he something special though. This did not turn out how zi had planned, by original plan would not work but I quite like how it eventually turned out

Cardmaking Tutorial

To begin with I stamped and coloured the image and fussy cut it out using my scan n cut leaving a white border.

The largest nesting oval die was used on the blue card and the next size down on the glitter card. These were glued together

I cut a strip.of blue card 2 1/2 Inch by 6 1/2 Inch and scored it at 2 and 4 1/2, both were folded as valleys

This was secured to the underside of the blue oval. The caravan was secured to the other end.

A lawn border was cut with the scan and cut and score at 1/4 Inch. This was glued into the middle of the oval to enable it to stand up.

The sentiment was heat embossed and cut using a small torn oval die. This was blended in worn lipstick and adhered to the glitter card in front of the lawn

The mum sentiment was heat embossed and cut with a heart die. This too was blended in worn lipstick. Using acetate this was stuck onto the back of the lawn. 

The banner die was used on the glitter card and this was glued above the caravan using acetate

Handmade Card Dainty Hugs

My inspiration for this card came from the Cupcakes Inspiration Challenge which had the theme, blue, yellow and white. 

We have spent the week in the Lake District and as I was doing the 30 Day Marker Challenge I pre stamped a.lot of images to take with me. When the new challenge came out I instantly knew which image I would use. One.of my all time favourites Afternoon Tea by Daisy Mae Designs.

Spring Blossom Embossed Card

This card uses one of my bargain finds from last week. A Daisy Mae Design Stamp in Spring Blossom. I am really pleased with how this coloured up and love the new shade of Tri-blend pen the Postman has just delivered. It is 'Bright Pink Shade' and has produced that amazingly vibrant reddish pink flower.

Butterfly and Bee

This is another of my bargain stamps. Craftstash have a sister site called craft world which is full of expert advise and inspiration. Every Saturday they have a Super Six which is a six offers that run for craftworld members. This stamp was one of the super six last week and I only had to pay postage and packaging which was £2.49. Sweet Treats

This simple card uses The Sweet Favourite Stamp Set by Daisy Mae Designs. I really love the details on the sweet jars on the shelf. It makes me think of Beamish (an open air museum in the North of England telling the story of life in the region from 1820 right through to the 1950's) and days out with family and friends. Which is just what we need at the moment 

Zig Zag Card - Fun Fold

Another really easy fun fold card. That looks super effective. This one incorporates stamps from the Daisy Mae Design Village Bakery Collection and really makes me want cake....

Tent Stepper Card

I wanted to create a card where I could show off the vast majority of the Daisy Mae Faraway Collection. I wanted a woodland scene but all the folds I tried just looked swaped with the size of the toadstool and the tree stump house. But the tent stepper allows the little scene to play out perfectly

Spring Clean

I love cute animal cards but never thought I would describe a frog as cute!!! However the Daisy Mae Design Spring Clean stamp is an exception to that rule.

This cute little guy looks like he is throughly enjoying his scrub in the bucket and as such it needed a plain and simple card to allow the stamp to do the talking.

Distress Ink Background Card

The stamp in this card was one of my bargain finds, a few weeks ago and I love the vibrant flowers in the cart. It reminded me of marigolds which got my little mind working and reminded me of the dried marigold distress ink I have in my stash.

I wanted to create a background that complimented the flower colours but which did not deter your view point from the stamped image as I wanted that to remain the focal point.

Up, Up and Away Easy Fun Twisted Gatefold Card

This is a super easy card to make. I used the Daisy Mae Design Hot Air Ballon Stamp. This was one of my bargains from last week

I have had this gorgeous cloud paper for a little while now and feel this has given it the justice it deserves. It was a free download paper and Mr Printables Mr Printables Website is well worth a look, there are a lot of lovely prints. 

VE Day Memorial Inspired Sympathy Card

I have known what I wanted to do with this stamp since the moment I ordered it. It is not often that happens for me, but I knew the moment I saw the stamp flash up on my facebook news feed early one morning that I just had to have it. 

It is the 75th Anniversary of VE Day and our village had a street party and entertainment planned. The bank holiday had been changed from the Monday to the Friday to commemorate the day. But Coronavirus put an end to our planned celebrations with lockdown been on the cards instead. 

So our VE day bank holiday consisted of decorating the house in home made bunting and an afternoon tea of dairy free scones (child with an allergy) which were an absolute disaster. I actually had to ask the children not to use them as weapons as they would do some serious damage.

Rocker Card, Tea & Cake - Coffee Lovers Blog Hop Spring/Summer 2020

This is a variation of a rocker card. I bought this gorgeous hessian ribbon online and I thought it was 3cm wide but I had accidentally clicked 5cm. We have all done it, right? I am sure it wont be the last time....

I keep looking at it and wondering what I can do to show off its beauty. Then it came to me. A variation on a rocker card.

Day 2 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop Spring/Summer 2020

This is my second card for the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. Today I chose to use a fun fold card that is clean and simple.

Heat Embossing

So I spent a long time admiring others heat embossing and amazed at the results but too afraid of failure to allow myself myself to try it. I just avoided it like the plague.

But I finally bit the bullet and purchased a starter kit, this included a number of coloured embossing powders, a heat tool and an embossing ink pad. Armed with my new purchases I trailed you tube looking for an easy to follow to guide and after many false starts I now LOVE heat embossing.
